In early 2016 my husband and I emmigrated to Brussels, Belgium from the state of Viginia to experience living life abroad….
The posts made to this site are to capture the memories of our travels and our experiences while living in Belgium. It is partly a journal, partly a catalogue to share with others who need recommendations on where to go and what to do.
I was inspired to name this blog “The Great Migration” after reading the book The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson. I found strength in learning about the millions of blacks that worked their way north from the suppressive south, with hopes to create a better future for their families. The power behind this movement and my family’s choice to be a part of it has shaped where I am today and the woman I have become. It only felt right to document my story, even if it only serves as a compilation of memories of my time living abroad.
I am grateful for the strength God has given us to pursue our dreams and overcome our fears as we continue this journey though life.
